Horsham Film Festival

The Horsham Film Festival is now in it’s sixth year and each year, the event presented by us at Silvertip Films, celebrates locally made films and filmmaking talent from further afield!

Beginning in 2019 as part of the Horsham District Year of Culture, the Horsham Film Festival saw a long held thought to put on a film festival by the Silvertip team, finally come to fruition.

The initial event was assumed to be a one-off but exceeded expectations in terms of the number of films submitted, the quality of the films, the Awards Night attendance and the overall response to the Festival, and so it was decided the Festival would run again the next year!

The festival seeks to celebrate filmmaking talent of all kinds, from all over the country with a focus on filmmakers in our local area of West Sussex and from younger and first-time filmmakers.

The festival has 4 main categories films can be entered into – Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Documentary and Best Animation. Each category is reasonably loose with it’s title and allows some flexibility with what gets entered, such as a horror into the drama category.

There is also the special Your District award which began with the original festival as a way of celebrating films made in and about the Horsham District and wider West Sussex area.

We have also played host to special screenings of short films from filmmakers including TV drama directors, established short film directors and friends of Silvertip Films as well.

There’s also been musical acts at past events including choirs and singer songwriter performances too!

Each year the festival has developed new, and strengthened existing relationships with other businesses in the West Sussex area as well as from around the country and sometimes, the world! These relationships have led to sponsorship of the festival, enabling it to run each year.

The festival also develops it’s judging panel and has included notable industry names who have produced shows such as Doctor Who and Downton Abbey, local names from radio and TV and creative educators from the College of Richard Collyer in Horsham as well.

Take a look below to see videos from the Awards Night including the 2024 one and the 2021 live-streamed Covid-edition!

Information on the 2025 festival will be announced soon so look out for that in the not too distant future.
