Video Director, Producer Geoff Cockwill
As the founder and Director of Silvertip Films, Geoff has a hand in every aspect of a production undertaken by the company.
Geoff developed his passion as a video director / producer by initially studying filmmaking at college, then working as a production assistant at various production houses in London before further study at the renowned Surrey Institute of Art and Design (now known as University of the Creative Arts). He graduated their Film and Video degree with honors before starting Silvertip Films in 2005.
Experienced in many areas of filmmaking and editing, Geoff has directed over 400 videos from corporate promos to music videos to live events and actor reels.
When working with businesses to create video for their marketing plans, his goal is to understand the businesses message, the required aims of the video and take all of that and create a video to raise the business’ profile, drive new customers to them and increase public awareness of their work and give great ROI too.
Geoff works extensively with DaVinci Resolve and Premiere CC to edit as well as After Effects for animation and Photoshop for image work. He has had Blackmagic-approved training on Davinci Resolve for grading and editing as well. Geoff is experienced using the Blackmagic range of cameras including the URSA Mini 4.6K and Pocket 4K Camera, plus various Canon and Sony models.
Influences come from a wide range of media such as TV shows like Doctor Who, What We Do In The Shadows, The Walking Dead, Veronica Mars, The 100 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer through to directors like James Cameron, James Gunn, and Christopher McQuarrie as well as music videos, video games and comic books.
Geoff’s enthusiasm for every project is palpable and translates through to the crew on the project as well as the clients and then onto the screen.
